I have diagnoses of pcos all symptoms included. should i take combo birth control pill or only progesterone? never tried provera, (medroxyprogesterone) will it be better for me?

Androgenic: Provera (medroxyprogesterone) is a Progesterone which gets converted to weak androgens and can further complicate pcos. The androgens produced by the ovaries will not be suppressed by Progesterone alone. Combination ocp's are preferable, certain ones are better than others. A gynecologist or endocrinologist are good resources.

OCP's: The first line treatment for pcos is ocp's. The pill will suppress the varies and regulate the cycle. Cyclic Progesterone can be used to regulate the cycle for women who cannot use ocp's, but the effect is less predictable.
