Herpes Zoster?: Or shingles would give you a rash and can give you long lasting pain. The condition is treatable. But you should be examined by a doctor to be sure.

See your DR.: Pain for 2 months, then a rash is not zoster. Zoster will be on 1 side, following a nerve, consisting of clusters of small blisters & scabs.

Shingles?: The dermatomes l4, l5, s1 and s2 (racepinephrine) go over the buttocks region on the way down to the leg. Shingles typically follow dermatome pattern, therefore it is quite likely that it can be over the buttocks region.

Rash: This can't be diagnosed with the information that is available. A history, physical examination & other studies may be needed to determine cause/causes. Once accurately assessed a treatment plan can be developed.
