Don't know : By telling your doctor your age and length of time symptoms are present will help you get a much better opinion. Not enough information here; could be benign, could be serious. It would be more concerning if the pain traveled like a sword from the back to the front & would suggest medical evaluation asap. If traveled along the ribs, could be viral, nerves, somatic dysfunction, internal, ..........
