I don't know why you: Have the urges. For people who use cutting to cope, they often feel a sense of relief after they have lacerated their skin or drawn blood. Someone who feels empty inside may cut to feel "something". Someone who is hurting emotionally may cut so that the physical pain will distract them. Some cut to punish themselves.
