Rare but possible: The risk of dying under general anesthesia is thought to be less than one in 350, 000. In fact the number is so small we can not adequately measure it. I often tell patients that they are more likely to die from driving to the hospital than from the general anesthesia. Hope this helps.

Very low: Anesthesia has become very safe during the last few years. Complications may happen but are rare. It all depends on your overall health and body weight..Make sure you speak to your anesthesiologist and give a complete medical history and go through a complete physical evaluation and he can give you the best anesthetic plan for your surgery.
