A member asked:

How much does a bone marrow donation hurt?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A little.: The actually collection of blood stem cells uses a machine connected to the donor through a needle in a vein, and is much like donated blood and not painful. To get the stem cells into the blood stream, donors are given neupogen, a drug to force stem cells into the blood. That drug can cause bone aching for a few days.It feels much like body aching when you have the flu, if it occurs.
