Saliva more like it.: It is not the pet hair but the skin shredding which would act as the allergen. If the dog has a skin problem, then the serum oozing from the wound would serve as a source of allergen as well. In fact, their saliva is more likely the major source of allergen especially when you are dealing with cats or large dogs.
