A member asked:

How can you tell if your bone is bruised/fractured without x-ray?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Ultrasound: Can often detect cortical fractures. Mri is good for looking for marrow edema caused by trauma but will often not see cortical fractures. Bone scans show increased activity in the area of trauma as the bone heals itself.
