Yes: I think this is one of the more painful things to have.

Can be quite painful: Dequervain's is caused by swelling around tendons at the thumb side of the wrist. Because we use our thumbs so much, the constant tendon movement increases the swelling and the pain. This is a common condition that may not require surgery--see a hand surgeon.
