Unknown: We really do not understand why the degree of nausea/vomiting varies among women. Sorry. We do have a number of different treatments and normally can find something effective.

Female vs. male: Interestingly enough, it's been shown that if you are caring a female fetus the degree of nausea/vomiting is usually worse than if you were to carry a male fetus. The theory behind that is that your own hormones and your baby's hormones add up and make the mother sicker. If that's your case, then chances are you might be better off next time carrying a baby boy.
