Maybe: Any doctor can order peripheral blood smear. However hematologist will be able to evaluate it under microscope and interprete the result. Pathologist can also evaluate peripheral blood smear.

No. Maybe: A peripheral blood smear (pbs) is a very common test. It is low tech but potentially very valuable. I think any physician can order it, but most often used by hematologists.

No: Your doctor can order this test and specify what he/she is looking for or suspicious of certain illness. The pathologist is usually the one who reviews the test and provide answers to your doc!
