Unsure: If it only happened one time, you likely did not ovulate as usual. Not releasing an egg each month can make your periods irregular. It is normal for most women, not on birth control, to have this happen 1-2 times per year. If it happens each month and your periods are always irregular, you should see your doctor in order to determine the cause.
