Hereditary: It is a liver dysfunction that you are born with. It is supposed to be mild and usually symptom-free. There is not special diet needs, but healthy eating is always good. Drink enough water, maintain a good lifestyle - avoid more than minimal alcohol, etc. See link: http://www.Drweil.Com/drw/u/id/qaa400184 you should be okay. Best!

No worries: Gilbert's syndrome is a benign liver condition causing a mild elevation in your bilirubin level on lab testing. Sometimes when you become ill the bilirubin can get high enough to get you a little jaudiced (yellow skin/eyes) this will resolve after the illness passes and is no indication of liver damage. There are no dietary precautions to take with this condition.

Gilbert's Syndrome: I agree with my colleagues about gilbert's being a benign syndrome, yet seeing your skin turn yellow can be alarming. Increased stress like working too many hours, insufficient sleep, poor diet, etc. Can trigger episodes of jaundice which clear once life pattern normalizes. I once had an internal medicine chief who would have this happen whenever it was his month to supervise. He taught us well.
