See a dentist: It sounds like you have tmj/tmd. Seek out a dentist with post graduate trading from some of the fine programs that are out there like pankey, dawson & several others. They have extra training in occlusal guard fabrication and adjustments. Do not buy one at your local pharmacy because it will not incorporate your specific bite patterns and the needed knowledge that it takes to perform adjustments.

Tmj: Jaw joint (TMJ) problem. See TMJ expert. Any dentist can be a TMJ expert with the proper training and experience. Most commonly, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, and orofacial pain specialists. Ask your MD, your dentist and your dental society for referrals.
