Water Weight Loss: Its true that the majority of rapid weight loss (1-3 pounds daily) is due to loss of water. The reason this happens is because a reduction of sodium intake--food reduction (almost all food contains sodium)--results in the body holding on to less water, hence the weight loss. While it might appear like cheating, steady loss of weight over weeks and months is commendable and real. Good for you!
