Unlikely : If felt on or just underneath the skin, could be shingles (rash comes later). Thoracic neuritis or other nerve entrapment is also considered. Regardless, pain from an internal source such as the kidney and gallbladder should first be evaluated for by your doctor.

Hard to say: Could be either. Try taking some Tums or Milk of Magnesia (magnesium hydroxide) to see if its GERD/Gastritis. If it helps likely this issues otherwise it suggests something else like back pain. Sciatica goes down the leg typically, so if you have that as well then maybe you have both or just sciatica. See your doctor for further evaluation
