Monitoring Centers: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for bad things like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts. They enlarge (pain) in response to the inflammation created when they react. They shrink when all is well.

Ive been told my lymph nodes are benign. Does this mean that there enlarged too? There 1/2 an inch and havent changed in 2 years. Ive also been told that the nodes are reactive but not enlarged? Doesnt reactive nodes mean enlarged though?
