Talking: For most people it's much more comfortable than they think. You should expect someone to listen to you and understand you. Therapist's have different approaches but the idea is that they will help you help yourself. If you're on the fence about trying, i would encourage you to seek someone out. Best wishes.

Exposures: The goal of social anxiety is to limit avoidance to social situations and work on the negative thoughts that increase anxiety. When exposing yourself to social situations, the longer the exposure while coping with the anxiety instead of avoiding it, the less distress there will be over time.
