It means that it is : Something related to the actual structure of the spine and not a pain from something else or from an infection or tumor as those pains are usually not dependent on position. So it is a possible disc or joint issue in the cervical spine that is aggravated by the position you assume so it could be arthritic at your age as well. Try some otc medication if no reasons not to use and a flat pillow.
