No: Interstitial cystitis has never been shown to cause bladder cancer. It is a benign inflammatory condition of the bladder but does not change into a malignant tumor.

No: I am not aware of any studies linking ic with primary cancer of the bladder. There are, however, a lot of studies linking smoking with bladder cancer and often times the symptoms of ic can mask other causes. Be sure you have a good evaluation of your bladder prior to accepting the diagnosis.
