Folic acid: Prenatal supplements are available and should contain Folic Acid for health and development of the brain and spinal cord. It also contains other vitamins and minerals. A diet should contain fresh fruits and vegetables, a variety of meat, chicken, fish, beans, whole grains and dairy products. She should aim for a variety of foods that include a protein, carbohydrate, fruit, vegetable in each meal.

6 months pregnant: Your wife should eat foods she likes and those that agree with her digestion. At 6 months, she may feel acid reflux manifested by heartburn, regurgitation, abdominal or lower chest discomfort. She should continue on her prenatal vitamins, though.
