See below: Nothing in life (including medicine) is without risk. As an example, there are more serious and fatal overdoses from tylenol (acetaminophen) than any other medicine. Having said that, every treatment prescribed or administered has its benefits weighed against the potential harm. If you are likely to get seriously ill or die from not doing a procedure or taking a med, then obviously it's better to do it.
