How do you deal with religious obsessions or delusions in the elderly?

Dementia in Elderly: Gently. There is little to do but listen, be patient, and not react. As the elderly go farther and farther away from reality due to their silent mini strokes or other reasons for dementia there is little that they recall or have control over in how their mind works.

Delusions: It is best to consult with a neurologist to rule out organicity of any kind. If results are negative then consult with a mental health clinician who specializes with treating the elderly. Ask your doctor for referrals, obsessions and delusions can lead to erratic behavior so you want to make sure to seek these consultations .Best wishes.
