Pericarditis?: There are many possible causes of fluid around the heart. Many infections can cause this. Kidney disease, thyroid disease, and autoimmune diseases such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis can also cause this. Draining the fluid may help your doctor find out what is wrong.
