Medical evaluation : It is difficult to tell just by the duration of pain how severe is the problem. It is certainly telling you that medical evaluation is necessary. It could be a small issue but no way to determine that without a good physical examination.

How is function?: If range of motion is good (arm goes all the way up in the air and all the way behind the back) and have not had a recent injury, i usually recommend nsaids under care of a pcp. If your pain goes away completely that is great. If not you should be evaluated for something that may need more treatment.
