Jury still out: We honestly don't know the answer to that yet. A few preliminary studies suggest there may be some cancer risk with cell phone use, but that is when the phone is right up against the skin or up to the head. Did not see same results when phone was put to speaker phone, suggesting even a little distance helps. I wouldn't do it with a developing kid, but for adults it is probably ok to have in bed.

If there is: Any measurable risk of cell-phone induced cancer, it is infinitesimally small. You have as much chance of being struck by lightening as getting cancer from your cell phone, even if you sleep with it.
