If a person has hives from a drug reaction but is truly allergic to benadryl (diphenhydramine), (diphenhydramine) will taking a xyzal or claritin help the reaction as much as benadryl (diphenhydramine)?

Drug allergy: Unlikely the hives are secondary to benadryl, (diphenhydramine) but can be secondary to an additive in the medication. Xyzal and Claritin are different antihistamine medications. They too control hives.
