Fairly accurate: 8 week vaginal ultrasounds are fairly accurate but only to the nearest 7 days. It is fair but not certain as to the exact date of ovulation.

Very accurate if ...: Done by trained, competent ultrasound technologist or radiologist/ob/gyn physician. The most accurate measurement for dating is the crown-rump length at between 7 and 13 weeks gestation. Accuracy is +/- 8%, or approximately +/- 4 days at 8 weeks gestation.
