Refer to answer: Syndesmosis is refereed to ligaments connection between tibia and fibula bone in legs. Fractured is a break. Metatarsal is the bone in the foot.

Different places: A 5th metatarsal fracture typically occurs in the foot along the outside of the foot; whereas, a syndesmosis injury is at the bottom of the leg just above the ankle between the tibia and fibula.
