Bad breath, gas &...: In general, garlic is one of the healthiest foods we can eat & is generally well-tolerated, but not everyone tolerates it well. It famously causes bad breath.Some get intestinal gas or upset stomach from it. Garlic is an antimicrobial, killing unfriendly bacteria, yeast and intestinal parasites, so sometimes when people get gas or loose stools it is actually a side effect of it killing microbes and producing a Jarisch-Herxheimer or die-off reaction.
