Why??: There are other natural treatments that have evidence to support them - olive oil (comb through hair and pick out nits....) salt/ocean water... There is nothing in mouthwash (except alcohol) that i can think of that would affect lice. Good luck. Lice are pesky. Change over the counter products every other treatment - seems to help.

Reinvent wheel ?: There are medications for lice. Use a product that has been formulated for a specific purpose. Mouthwash is not formulated for your purpose, but i don't see any side effects... Keep it out of your eyes.

Lice treatment: If you want to get rid of the lice as quickly and effectively as possible, use a treatment specifically formulated for that purpose. It's often hard enough as it is. Follow directions. Ask your physician or pediatrician.

Not safely: Can burn scalp and cause tissue damage. It also does not always kill all the eggs. There is a good pdf article you can google from the spokane public health department that goes through all the"home remedies" for lice . In removal and lists the pros and cons. In addition remember to only use listerine as directed on label for 30 seconds or less. You can burn your mouth as well.

Use medication: Please use proper medication. Your local pharmacy should have a special medicated shampoo for lice.

NO use proper soap!: Mouth rinse is not the way to stop or cure lice. Please see your doctor right away and follow their recommendation immediately and thoroughly. Lice are highly contagious, and you owe it to your self and your friends to eradicate the pests properly. Remember clothes, bedding and furniture all need to be properly treated.

NO: In the past listerine with its high alcohol content was used in treatment of lice. This is no longer appropriate.

No: Most home remedies for treating lice deal with using olive oil mixed with some kind of essential oil, lysol, or vinegar. Mouthwash does not contain many of the essential oils used to treat lice, and if it does, the amount is usually too low in concentration to have any marked effect. I highly recommend you not using mouthwash to treat lice. Nothing bad will happen, but nothing good will either.
