Can you tell me if a sweet disolves in your mouth does your stomach have to digest it?

Yes: Even though the process of digestion is carried out by the entire digestive system, the complex carbohydrates (sugars), fats and proteins of a piece of chocolate for instance would have to be broken down to be taken up by the gut into the body.

Starts in mouth: Digestion starts in the mouth. Salvia contains enzymes, amylase is one, that start digesting foods. When you swallow the process continues in your stomach. That is why it is important to chew your food.
