Moisturize!: Accutane is a very effective treatment for severe acne, but it does have side effects. The most common is extreme dryness of the skin and lips. The dermatologist will likely recommend that you stop using any other topical creams or ointments that also cause dryness, use a good moisturizer twice a day, use a moisturizing sunscreen on all exposed skin, and keep lip balm handy to use a lot.
