Wound care: Yes, it will hurt a little bit to remove packing from a wound -since it is a raw, open area and your body is alerting you to that fact. You can premedicate if you have pain meds-try to take some motrin or tylenol (acetaminophen) 30 min before you do the dressing change. I also recommend saline into the packing, since it will come out easier. Since the wound is 'open' now, infection is unlikely. See MD if other Qs
