No: No. It is not advisable, to salt or toothpaste on cold sore. There are medicines for cold sores. Ask at your pharmacist for a recommendation.

NO: A cold sore is cause by herpes virus. Hence, toothpaste and salt will have no effect. Zovirax, prescribed by a dentist or physician, particularly when taken at the prodromal stage can prevent having cold sores. Otc abreva is another product that can speed healing.
