Yes, but: A psychiatrist may prescribe this but should be thoroughly familiar with its risks, benefits, side, effects, and potential drug and disease interactions. If your psychiatrist does not feel comfortable prescribing it for you, it is their right to refuse to prescribe it and refer you to a weight loss expert.

I suppose: I believe that it is ok for them to prescribe, but most of them would likely not prescribe that medication as it is not a psychiatric medication.
