A member asked:

Isn't it still possible for the sperm to get into the uterus if one is on implanon since it's not 100% effective? if a female ispregnant, will implanon kill the fetus?

Implanon is not IUD: Implanon is birth control that is absorbed through the uterus. It is not an iud and it does not allow for the fertilization of the egg. I think you may be mixing up this insertable birth control with an iud.

It doesn't: Matter that sperm get into the uterus. They will each time you have unprotected sex. That's not the way Implanon works. It inhibits ovulation. You will not become pregnant just because sperm gets into the uterus since there is no egg to fertilize, and implanaon doesn't "kill" anything, not even a housefly.

Implanon: Is supposed to prevent ovulation, does not matter if sperm gets to uterus if u do not ovulate and fertilization takes place in the tube and then it goes into the uterus.
