Effective monitor: Your heart is a pump. If the pump isn't doing its job, fluid backs up behind it.. Blood being pumped out of the heart to the body is reduced & your organs (especially the kidney) think that they are dehydrated. The kidney stops making urine to 'save' fluid. The volume in the body increases. More fluid, more weight. Voila! weight becomes an accurate measure of fluid balance. Use same scale!
