A member asked:

Safe to still breastfeed baby after getting paint on hands while painting a room in our house (washed hands before nursing)?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably: The common latex paints have few if any issues which would exclude breastfeeding after exposure to fumes or from skin contact. Some suggest that oil based paints have too many volatile organic compounds for infant exposure to fumes and inhalation of these fumes may alter the taste of milk. I have not seen evidence that the exposure you describe should be a problem.
