Abdominal pain: The cause of the pain depends upon whether the pain is in the upper part of your left side or the lower part. Pain in the upper part could indicate severe acid reflux or gastritis; try antacids or Pepcid (famotidine) to see if they help. Lower left pain reflects spasm in the colon usually. This is where you feel the pain of constipation. As constipation gets more severe, you may feel pain when you eat.
