Targets vary: Gestational diabetes patients are often instructed to check their finger stick blood glucose 4 times a day (fasting and after meals). Fasting in the am, most doctors i know try to have their patients between 70-90/95. One hour after eating, some doctors will try to keep you below 140, others strive for under 130. If you check 2 hours after eating the value should be under 120.
