My sister started taking medicine for pink eye a week ago. the swelling has gone down, but there is mucus, and sometimes they bleed. is that normal?

Yes: Pink eye typically refers to viral conjunctivitis, an infection that can sometimes be quite severe. The symptoms your sister is experiencing are among the more severe, but they will resolve. Otc preservative-free artificial tears can be helpful for symptomatic relief.
