Silicone gel: There are many different brands of silicone gel and it comes in different forms (sheeting, ointments, creams, solutions, films, strips). Gel sheeting probably has the best scientific support to justify its use but it is highly impractical. Popular versions include kelocote, scarzone, scarguard, neoprin gel strips.... Usually nothing: Post surgical scars and trauma scars can usually do well on there own. There are many products that claim to help, but there is little proof. That being said, many feel they can help. Go to the first aid aisle at any pharmacy. Always remember to not get too much sun exposure on the incision for that first year after surgery (sunscreen). Hypertrophic scars can be treated too.
