Sunscreen vs block: Sunscreens tend to filter out the suns various wavelengths whereas a block tends to mechanically block all the rays. The most popular blocks are zinc or titanium oxides. However many of these tend to have a very paste like consistency (think desitin) micronized versions allow a thinner consistency that tends to be less opaque but may not offer complete protection.
