Yes: Uti's that involve the kidney famously cause flank pain and tenderness. Drink plenty of water and take whatever other rx's your physician gave you. Return if it's not working.

I have had back pain and sciatica for a long time, now I have bladder burning, tests for UTI come back negative, my urine has a strong odor. I quit drinking coffee and it helped, the burning went away. But notice strong urine odor.
