Yes: Most primary care physicians are qualified to check for skin cancer. Ask to have a "complete skin exam". When i perform this, i look at every skin surface, even under underwear because melanoma can grow just about anywhere. If there is a questionable lesion you might be referred to a dermatologist or a surgeon for a biopsy.
