A member asked:

I'm just wondering, if you're on a transplant list can they put somebody ahead of you?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

They don't put......: For kidneys, the list is really a ranking based on points. The major drivers of the points are time waiting, ABO blood type, the hla match with the donor, and age. For any given deceased donor there is a "list" of waiting candidates in the same blood group as the donor. Organs are shared in sequence to the highest pointed patients first locally, then regionally (states), then the whole country.
