Quite good: Stop smoking now get the coronary grafts follow with cardiac rehab risk less than 2% unless multiple other issues: obesity, diabetes, renal failure, poor heart function = low ejection.

Not bad: If he stops smoking 6 weeks before surgery if the surgery is elective then he will have less problems with lungs after surgery. His long term outlook is good after surgery only if he stops smoking, otherwise it is a waste os time and resources.
