Ignorance: Unfortunately mainstream doctors do not know enough or anything about alternative medicine, so it is easier to dismiss it than to make an effort to understand or to learn it. Don't be discouraged, pursue it. It is superior in many respects.

Some do not: Sometimes when a profession trains its members that they provide the only safe type of medicine, the practitioners will be less open to other solutions. Many physicians do embrace the usefulness of effective alternative therapies, but many times they may not know enough about the practices to discuss and often physicians don't like looking less than stellar in terms of their knowledge.
