No surgery is great: For back pain. Except in very few pre-operative diagnosis/cases, surgery 4 back pain is not predictable. There are lots of reasons why one can have back pain. Only a few of the causes relate to the motion segments of the lumbar spine. Some relate to gi, gu, vascular causes to name a few. So having back pain & degenerative changes in your back doesn't imply back pain is from those imaging findings.
